It's all in the wash.

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

Before your first use, we recommend pre washing them 2-4 times, this helps build up the absorbency level and also remove any factory dust that may be on the nappy. Any cycle is fine, and you do not need to dry in between washes. Avoid using fabric conditioner.

Main wash

Before you start weaning, there is no need to try and remove any poo before washing, it is only once you have started weaning that you will need to knock any poo into the toilet. You can store nappies in a bucket or wash bag until your chosen wash day, it’s recommended to wait until your wash bag or bucket is full to enable a good wash in the machine, usually around 2-3 days. Pre wash on 40 degrees on a short wash, using half the amount of detergent you would normally need for a full wash. You can use either bio or non-bio detergent, but do not use fabric conditioner or scent boosters. After the pre wash, you will then need to do a main wash, this can be done on 40 degrees, with the full dose of detergent, for around 2.5-3 hours. Avoid tumble drying, especially on the wraps as this can affect the PUL/ elastics, if needed you can tumble dry the boosters on a low temperature. Drying naturally is the best thing for the wraps and the boosters. In the summer, just pop them on the line and let the sun do its magic, this will also help with removing any stains. In the winter, just pop them on a sock hanger or clothes airer. Avoid putting them onto any direct heat such as a radiator or heated airer.
